Derome Smith

Derome Smith is a filmmaker, educator, and founder of Media Jazz, a creative media company dedicated to producing films, documentaries, educational media, and original storytelling projects. With a passion for preserving culture and inspiring audiences, he combines artistic vision with educational leadership to create meaningful and impactful media experiences.

As the director of Searching for Ernie: The Last Ensemble, Derome is documenting the life and legacy of legendary theatre artist Ernie McClintock and his influence on generations of performers and storytellers. His work also includes the feature film Street Wise, distributed through Filmhub and available on streaming platforms including Fawesome TV.

In addition to his filmmaking career, Derome serves as a Television Production and Theatre instructor, where he mentors aspiring filmmakers, actors, and content creators. Through Media Jazz, he continues to help organizations, businesses, schools, and communities tell stories that educate, inspire, and preserve important voices for future generations
